QUÉBEC ATELIERS OUVERTS '97

On the 19-20-26 and the 27 of april 1997, 62 professional artists from the Québec Urban Community will open their studios (26 different places) to the public. Québec Ateliers Ouverts 97 is a major event.

The artists are either painters, sculptors or photographers, either they do video art, installation or performance art.

The event QUÉBEC ATELIERS OUVERTS 97 is at its 7th edition. This event occurs every two year and started in l984. The opening of the studios to the public reflects the artists'desire to work at their own promotion. QUÉBEC ATELIERS OUVERTS 97 is organised by artists, all member of VIDERE which is the Association d'Artistes Professionnels en Arts Visuels de Québec.

QUÉBEC ATELIERS OUVERTS 97 brings together artists having various experiences. Some are beginners, some are freshly out of university and their work already holds many promises. Some have a wide reputation and have realised many major works. You will find the studios in Saint-Roch, Sain-Jean-Baptiste, le Vieux-Port, Montcalm, Sainte-Foy, Sillery, Charlesbourg, Saint-Pascal and Notre-Dame des Laurentides.

To give information to the public, an artist will be at the Bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy to answer questions, direct the visitors and give them the plan of visits. An exhibition showing one piece of each artist in the event will be held at the Bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy from April 12 to the 27th.
